Are you an experienced pharmacy technician ready to take the next step in your career by joining a dynamic and pro-active team?
We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and highly motivated clinical pharmacy technician to join the clinical pharmacy technical team. The post holder will be working both with the pharmacy and multidisciplinary teams in patient-facing roles across outpatient clinics in the Regional Infectious Diseases Unit (RIDU), supporting the delivery of HIV treatment through patient counselling, treatment regimen review and supply of medicines via the most effective route for this patient group.

This post is an excellent opportunity for a highly motivated and enthusiastic pharmacy technician looking to specialise or advance in clinical areas. Youll:
1. Play a key role in the pharmaceutical care of patients and optimise supply of medicines closer to home.
2. Collaborate closely with the pharmacy team and wider multidisciplinary team (MDT) to optimise patients medicines and care.
3. Contribute to medicines efficiency initiatives
4. Support and develop other members of the pharmacy team.
5. Benefit from opportunities for service improvement, delivery of education and training and other personal and professional development initiatives.

RIDU is a dynamic and multidisciplinary unit at WGH, providing specialist patient care to the population of southeast Scotland. The RIDU Pharmacy team is well established within the MDT, responsible for delivering high quality pharmaceutical services to patients within the unit managing complex and chronic infectious diseases such as HIV, HCID and also patients attending the Outpatient Antimicrobial Therapy (OPAT) service.
This is an exciting time to join our Clinical Pharmacy team, where we are committed to service modernisation and value our staff experience. The multidisciplinary teams across site at the Western General Hospital have recognised the positive impact of having pharmacy technicians in patient-facing roles to improve the patient journey and are highly supportive in the progression of these roles. This is an excellent post for a Band 5 pharmacy technician seeking a patient facing role for expansion of your portfolio.
About you
Were looking for someone who:
6. Is a registered Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council
7. Has a final accuracy checking technician qualification
8. Has an HNC in Pharmacy Services Development and Management or equivalent experience.
Any applicant who does not hold the HNC in Pharmacy Services Development and Management MUST complete the Band 5 Pharmacy Technician Higher Level HNC Equivalence Mapping Assessment Form and submit it with the application as a supporting document.
