Job Title: Commis Chef

Location: High School of Dundee, Euclid Crescent, Dundee, DD1 1HU
Schedule: 35 hours per week - Monday – Friday, 7:30am – 3:00pm - offering a fantastic work life balance!
Some occasional Saturday morning working on a rota basis
Term Time Only: 38 weeks + 5.6 holiday weeks (total 43.6 paid weeks per year)
Hourly rate: £13.00 per hour
Join Our Catering Team at the High School of Dundee
We’re looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Commis Chef to join our friendly catering team at the High School of Dundee. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a vibrant school environment where food is at the heart of the community.
As part of a small, supportive team, you’ll play a key role in preparing and cooking fresh, high-quality meals for up to 200 pupils daily. From breakfast to lunch—including a popular homemade pizza offering—you'll be involved in creating enjoyable, nutritious meals that make a difference.
What You'll Be Doing:
* Preparing, cooking, and serving food for pupils and staff
* Supporting breakfast, mid-morning, and lunch service
* Assisting with hospitality catering for school events (buffet lunches, special events)
* Contributing to cleaning and kitchen hygiene duties
* Cross-training opportunities in both the nursery and primary school kitchens
What We’re Looking For:
* Experience working in an educational kitchen is desirable
* Basic knife and food preparation skills
* Understanding of HACCP food safety systems
* Good communication and food presentation skills
* Familiarity with recipe management systems is a plus
* A flexible, proactive approach and willingness to learn
* This role would suit a chef with a solid foundation in kitchen work who is looking to grow and develop within a supportive team.
