We have an exciting part‑time Pharmacist role to join our Pharmacy Team at HMP Kirkham, a category D prison located in Kirkham, Preston.
HMP Kirkham is an open prison with a capacity of 700 male inmates.
Job summary
As a Clinical Pharmacist you will be based within the healthcare department, working closely with a pharmacy technician and the wider healthcare team to deliver safe, legal and high‑quality pharmacy services as part of a comprehensive healthcare package.
Hours
* Monday – Friday
* 15 hours per week
* Opening times: Monday – Thursday 8am – 7pm; Friday 8am – 4:30pm
* Shifts to be negotiated
Salary
Part‑time – annual salary between £51,643 – £57,955, pro‑rata depending on experience.

Main duties
* Work alongside another Pharmacist to provide expert clinical advice on medicines and poly‑pharmacy in line with expected standards, ensuring safe and modern medicines management.
* Deliver an integrated, safe, legal and high‑quality prison pharmacy service as part of the comprehensive healthcare package.
* Lead and inspire pharmacy technicians and the wider healthcare team, fostering a good working environment and facilitating staff retention.
* Promote good practice in prescribing and medicines management, and implement improved medicines management strategies.
* Share information about pharmaceutical products, medicines management, optimisation, legislation and general health education with patients and the healthcare team.
Qualifications (essential)
* GPhC registered pharmacist
* Ideally an Independent Prescriber
* Vocational Masters Degree in Pharmacy including pre‑registration training
* Experience developing effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
Experience (desirable)
Experience in a hospital, community or prison environment.
