The Careers and Employability Officer will support the development, coordination and delivery of careers education, progression support and employability initiatives for students and graduates across all campuses. Working closely with the Careers and Employability Manager, academic teams and external partners, the post holder will provide high-quality careers guidance, deliver employability programmes and contribute to improved progression, employment and graduate outcome success. The role will act as a key student-facing contact point for careers information, engagement and support, helping students develop the skills, confidence and awareness required to enter and progress within the labour market. Key Responsibilities 1. Careers Guidance & Student Support Provide one-to-one and group careers coaching covering career planning, progression pathways and job search strategies. Experience providing guidance or support to learners across different academic levels and stages of study (e.g. Level 3 to Level 7 or equivalent progression pathways). Deliver CV, application, personal statement and interview preparation support. Provide tailored guidance to students at different stages of study including entry, progression and graduation. Establish and maintain effective communication channels with students across all campuses (digital platforms, drop-ins, workshops and targeted outreach). Operate a visible one-stop careers information point for students and staff queries relating to employment, recruitment and progression. Share up-to-date labour market intelligence, recruitment practices and employer expectations. Identify students at risk of poor progression outcomes and proactively engage them in support interventions. Maintain accurate records of student engagement including appointments, workshop attendance and progression outcomes. 2. Employability Programmes & Resources Work with Careers and Employability Manager to plan and deliver a structured programme of employability and progression support for graduating students. Design and deliver workshops, toolkits and learning resources (in-person and digital) covering employability and career readiness. Deliver employability sessions embedded within the curriculum in collaboration with academic staff. Support development of sector-specific career pathways and progression guidance materials. Contribute to improving student engagement and attendance at employability activities. 3. Employer, Stakeholder & Campus Engagement Work with academic teams to embed employability within courses and student experience. Collaborate with external partners and employers to support student opportunities and insights into industry. Support coordination of employability activity across multiple campuses ensuring consistency of service delivery. Contribute to events, workshops and engagement activities that enhance student career readiness. 4. Monitoring, Reporting & Continuous Improvement Maintain accurate engagement and destination data to support reporting and evaluation. Monitor participation and progression trends and identify areas for improvement. Collect student feedback to enhance service delivery. Contribute to institutional targets relating to progression, employability and graduate outcomes. Support continuous improvement of careers provision through evidence-based practice Person Specification Essential Degree or equivalent qualification. Experience within Higher or Further Education. Experience supporting students or jobseekers with career progression or employment. Experience delivering one-to-one and group guidance sessions. Experience working with multiple stakeholders. Knowledge of graduate recruitment practices and labour market expectations. Strong communication and organisational skills. Ability to engage and motivate students with varying levels of confidence and aspiration. Experience organising employability activity or events. Experience developing learning resources, workshops or guidance materials. Experience monitoring engagement data or outcomes tracking systems
