Consultant in General Internal Medicine
The closing date is 18 June 2026
Job Summary
General Medicine continues to expand and evolve at University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust, reflecting the recognised value of consultant‑led, multisystem care for patients with complex and undifferentiated medical needs. With services delivered across a large and diverse catchment area, UHD provides a dynamic and rewarding environment in which we want General Internal Medicine to play a central role in patient care.
We are seeking an enthusiastic and forward‑thinking Consultant with a genuine interest in General Medicine, who is keen to contribute to the continued development and delivery of high‑quality GIM services at UHD. The role offers exposure to a broad and varied case mix, supporting the development of advanced clinical skills and providing excellent opportunities for service improvement, multidisciplinary working, clinical education, and involvement in research.
You will be joining a newly established consultant team, offering a unique opportunity to help shape and develop a growing General Medicine service at UHD. This role provides the chance to influence service design, embed innovative ways of working, and build strong collaborative relationships with specialist services from the outset, all while delivering high‑quality, patient‑centred care across the Trust.
If you have a specialist interest, we would be delighted to support you in this, with support and elective work developed around this with your specialist interest colleagues.
