Principal Infrastructure/Civil Engineer (General Civils and Residential) – Bristol

What are we looking for?
We are recruiting a Principal Infrastructure/Civil Engineer to join our expanding Infrastructure Engineering team in Bristol. This is a unique and exciting opportunity to share our journey and help us deliver an exceptional service that creates sustainable and successful development across the UK.
We seek a talented individual who can deliver a high-quality service, think outside the box, and enjoys a collaborative approach to developing pragmatic and innovative design solutions to the technical challenges of land development. The candidate should have experience leading projects and teams, whilst also being comfortable getting hands‑on with the technical design and production of drawings and documentation.
The individual will need to use initiative and professional judgment to support our client’s projects and goals, with a good understanding of Civil Engineering best practice and standards.
Your areas of knowledge and expertise
* BEng/MEng in Civil Engineering or a related degree with 6+ years of relevant postgraduate experience, ideally Chartered or Incorporated with a professional body such as ICE.
* Demonstrable ability to lead in the production of residential or general infrastructure development schemes, including highways, drainage, levels and plot engineering; experience in independent holistic lead roles on major projects; responsibility for managing and prioritising workload for junior team members.
* Proficiency in design using best practice and guidance such as Manual for Streets, Design and Construction Guidance, CIRIA SuDS Manual, Sewerage Sector Guidance, Building Regulations, and Local Authority design standards.
* Ability to prepare drawings and calculations for both private and adoptable arrangements; experience obtaining watercourse consent and technical approval under S104 and S38 section agreements.
* Numerate and software literate with experience of AutoCAD, 3D modelling software such as Civils3D, and drainage modelling software such as Causeway Flow.
* Experience managing non‑technical project aspects such as contract management, financials, programme and resourcing, and client‑facing roles.
* Consultancy/private sector development background with a pragmatic approach and understanding of residential development schemes from concept to construction.
* Effective organisational and communication skills with a collaborative approach.
* A full driving licence and access to a car.
