Role Description

This is a contract role for a Clerk of Works, based in London working with a local authority; hybrid working options available.

The Clerk of Works will conduct on-site inspections to monitor construction progress, ensuring compliance with specifications and quality standards. Daily tasks include overseeing site operations, performing quality control checks, and liaising with contractors and project managers to address any issues. Analytical skills are essential for assessing construction methods and materials, while supervisory skills ensure effective site management and progress reporting.

Qualifications

* Candidate must have the right to work in the UK as this is a contract role.
* NSWRA Accredited Supervisor
* MICWCI Member of the Institute of Clerk of Works and Construction Inspectorate of GB, or equivalent professional qualification, and or demonstrable extensive relevant experience.
* Knowledge of relevant legislation such as the Highways Act 1980, New Roads and Streetworks Act 1991, Traffic Management Act 2004, CDM Regulations, and Chapter 8 of the Traffic Signs Manual
* Experience of using IT software including Microsoft 360 (including Word Excel, Project, and Outlook) and AutoCAD.
* Assisting engineers with specification and material checks
* To monitor and record contractors’ work/performance and to ensure that work elements are constructed in accordance with the design drawings and specification.
* Knowledge of construction materials and construction practices
* Understanding of traffic design and highways construction, and using civil engineering contracts
* Implementation of multiple projects and programmes of highway construction work within timescale and budgetary constraints.
* Experience in overseeing the delivery of small to large traffic projects
* Supervisory Skills and Site Inspections experience
* Quality Control and Inspection skills
* Strong Analytical Skills
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
* Relevant qualifications or certification in construction or engineering- related fields
* Experience in multi-disciplinary consultancy or construction environments or local authority is a plus.
