Working as an administrator in prison healthcare involves providing essential administrative support to the healthcare team within a prison setting.
This includes tasks like managing patient records, handling correspondence, scheduling appointments, and ensuring the smooth running of the healthcare unit. You'll also be a point of contact for patients, staff, and external agencies, requiring strong communication and interpersonal skills
Working in a prison healthcare setting can be both challenging and rewarding. You'll be part of a multidisciplinary team providing essential healthcare services to a diverse patient population with varying needs. The work may involve dealing with sensitive situations and individuals, requiring a high degree of professionalism and empathy. Main duties of the job
Contribute to the development of effective systems of communication and co‐operation between doctors, staff, other members of the healthcare team and external agencies
Maintain patient confidentiality and Data Protection for all patient related matters
Respond to queries and make appointments
Maintain a record of Healthcare complaints and incident monitoring processes and the production of regular analyses of these
Implement and maintain systems to receive prisoner patient enquiries and suggestions, including in conjunction with relevant members of the Healthcare team
Co‐ordinate and monitor applications to Healthcare Clinics to ensure efficient service to patients and support to the doctors and other staff
Communicate with all departments and the Health Team to ensure that patients receive relevant information with regard to their individual care

1. Educated to Vocational Level 3 in a relevant subject or able to demonstrate the equivalent level of knowledge, skills and experience
