Job Opportunity: Team Leader – Children's Residential Home
Location: Meldreth, Nr. Royston (Cambridgeshire / Hertfordshire Border)
Contract: Permanent | Part-time – 32 hours per week (Shifts)
Salary: £15.25 - £16.64 per hour (£25,376.00 - £27,688.96 per annum)
Essential Qualification: Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare
About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Team Leader to join a caring and committed residential team supporting children and young people aged 6–19 with complex needs, including profound communication difficulties, cerebral palsy, autism, and degenerative conditions.
This role is based at a well-established children's home in Meldreth, offering a supportive and enriching environment where young people can thrive.
Key Responsibilities
Promote and maintain a stable, safe, and nurturing home environment
Lead, coach, and support a team of Support Workers and Senior Support Workers
Oversee the physical and emotional support provided to young residents, including attending health appointments, family visits, and community activities
Support the induction, mentoring, and training of new team members
Conduct supervisions, performance reviews, and manage team development
Ensure effective planning and delegation of daily activities and individual support plans
Maintain up-to-date and accurate documentation
Participate in on-call duties, sleep-ins, and waking night shifts as required
Be prepared to engage in physical intervention and provide personal care when necessary
What We're Looking For
Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent)
Proven experience in shift/team leading within a care environment
Strong communication, leadership, and organisational skills
A genuine passion for improving the lives of young people with complex needs
Flexibility and willingness to support where needed
