Commercial Air Conditioning Service & Breakdown Engineer
Location: Mobile Role (Travel across the UK required)
Salary: £30,000 - £45,000 DOE
Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm (40 hours per week)
Reports to: Directors
Requirements: Satisfactory DBS and reference checks
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced and self-motivated Commercial Air Conditioning Service & Breakdown Engineer to carry out service, maintenance, fault-finding, and breakdown repair across commercial and domestic properties. This is a mobile role requiring regular travel across the West & East Midlands, with occasional wider UK coverage.
Flexibility, professionalism, and a strong focus on first-time fix rates and customer service are essential.
Key Responsibilities
Service, Maintenance & Repairs
Carry out routine servicing, maintenance, and safety checks on air conditioning systems.
Attend breakdowns to diagnose faults and complete repairs in a timely and cost‑effective manner.
Use technical knowledge to deliver high first-time-fix results and excellent customer care.
Make informed decisions when job requirements differ from original work orders and report changes to management.
Communicate clearly with customers when repairs cannot be completed on the first visit and arrange follow-up work.Operational Duties
Complete daily responsive maintenance tasks as instructed.
Direct and support assistants in the assembly or installation of systems or components.
Liaise with management and clients to ensure work is completed efficiently and to required standards.
Ensure all works comply with current industry codes, regulations, and safe working practices.
Follow all client site rules and regulations.
Adopt a "best value, cost-effective" approach when sourcing/purchasing materials.Documentation & Compliance
Accurately complete all required paperwork and return it promptly.
Ensure all training and qualifications remain up to date.
Maintain company vehicle, tools, and equipment in clean, safe, and serviceable condition.
Participate in site audits, vehicle audits, post-work inspections, quotations, and engineer meetings.
Comply with all company policies, procedures, and health & safety requirements.Additional Responsibilities
Actively identify and report opportunities for additional works or improvements.
Participate in the company's out-of-hours emergency call-out rota when required.
Person Specification
Essential Skills & Experience
Recognised air conditioning apprenticeship or equivalent qualification.
Strong commercial air conditioning experience, including fault finding, servicing, repairs, and maintenance.
Competent in the use of test equipment including electrical multi-meters.
Flexible approach to working hours and travel.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong communication and customer service skills.
Self-motivated with the ability to prioritise workload effectively.
Willingness to undertake additional training and development.
Full UK driving licence.
Basic IT literacy.
