Job Title: Accounts Assistant

Location: Chichester

Contract: Full-time, Permanent

About the Role

We are looking for a reliable and detail-focused Accounts Assistant to support our busy Finance team. This role covers all day-to-day bookkeeping activities across our portfolio of companies, ensuring accurate financial records are maintained and processes run smoothly. From purchase and sales ledger through to VAT returns and payroll liaison, you will play a vital role in keeping the accounts in order.

The position would suit someone who enjoys working with numbers, is confident handling routine accounts tasks, and wants to be part of a stable and supportive team.

Key Responsibilities

* Manage purchase ledger and sales ledger, including posting invoices and payments.
* Carry out bank postings and reconcile multiple bank accounts.
* Prepare and submit VAT returns.
* Liaise with external payroll bureau and ensure payroll data is processed correctly.
* Assist with month-end routines and provide accurate information to senior finance staff.
* Maintain organised and up-to-date records across all companies in the group.
* Provide general support to the Finance team as required.

About You

* Previous experience in bookkeeping or accounts assistant roles is essential.
* Working knowledge of accounting software such as Sage, QuickBooks, or Xero.
* Strong numeracy skills with high attention to detail.
* Good understanding of double-entry bookkeeping.
* Organised and methodical, with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
* Confident using Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
* A dependable team player who takes pride in doing a thorough job.
