The Release Manager will plan, coordinate, and oversee the deployment of software releases across multiple environments. The role ensures release schedule alignment, configuration integrity, and effective support of testing and validation processes. It requires strong technical expertise across SAS technologies, Oracle, configuration management, and release/test lifecycle processes.
Key Responsibilities
* Own and manage end-to-end release processes across development, test, and production environments.
* Coordinate with development, QA, and operations teams to deliver quality releases on schedule.
* Maintain and enforce configuration management standards using structured release artefacts and manifest files.
* Oversee packaging and deployment of:
* SAS DI code (SPKs)
* Support migration activities from SAS 9.4 → SAS Viya 4, leveraging CI/CD practices and accelerators.
* Conduct release readiness reviews, facilitate go/no-go decisions, and lead post‑release retrospectives.
* Ensure full traceability and auditability across all release components and decisions.
Required Skills & Experience
* SAS Enterprise Guide (EG): job orchestration and user migration support.
* SAS Data Integration (DI): DI job packaging and deployment using manifest structures.
* SAS Management Console: code promotion and management.
* SAS Studio: job development and deployment.
* SAS Viya 3.5 / Viya 4: hands‑on experience, including modernisation and migration.
* Oracle: working knowledge of Oracle databases, especially for data staging and decisioning workflows.
Process Knowledge
* Configuration Management: artefact grouping, dependency management, release hierarchies.
* Testing Lifecycle: test planning, execution, strategy, and defect management within release cycles.
Soft Skills
* Strong communication and stakeholder engagement.
* Methodical, detail-focused approach.
* Ability to manage competing priorities and perform under pressure.
* Experience working with HMRC or similar UK public‑sector environments.
* Familiarity with DevOps, cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/SAS PaaS).
* Knowledge of scheduling tools (e.g., Airflow).
* Exposure to SAS Migration Factory Delivery Models.
