Porter / Maintenance Assistant (Ref: 222051)
Substantive, Full Time - 37 hours per week
Band 2 Salary: £25,694 - £27,900 per annum with enhancements for Weekend Working
Distant Island Allowance: £2,482 per annum
An opportunity has arisen within our Estates, Maintenance, and Portering departments.
Suitable applicants will work across all areas within both Estates and Portering Services. A full clean driving license is essential, as duties may include delivering supplies and collecting waste throughout Shetland. The role may require occasional night shifts at short notice, including duties as per the job description.
Portering:
Assist the Portering Team to ensure smooth and efficient service. Duties include transferring and escorting patients and visitors, conveying samples and medical records, working with medical gases, delivering meals, equipment, mail, and other items, moving and checking vehicles, and transporting waste.
We seek candidates with good communication skills, who can work flexibly under pressure. Initial training and induction will be provided, with ongoing support from colleagues. A current full driving license with no serious convictions is essential.
Maintenance Assistant:
Assist in routine maintenance across all NHS Shetland properties. Candidates should have a good level of education, relevant experience or interest in maintenance, good communication skills, computer literacy, pride in their work, and the ability to work independently using initiative. A current full driving license is required.
