Job Title: Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP)Hourly Rate: £31.74Location: DurhamJob Summary:We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) to join our dedicated Mental Health Team in Durham. You will play a vital role in protecting vulnerable adults experiencing mental health crises, working collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team to conduct thorough assessments, make informed decisions about legal interventions, and advocate for the best interests of individuals under the Mental Health Act 1983.Key Responsibilities:
* Conduct comprehensive assessments of individuals experiencing mental health crises, including gathering information from various sources, conducting interviews, and undertaking risk assessments.
* Participate in multi-agency meetings (e.g., crisis care meetings, care planning meetings) to develop and implement appropriate care plans.
* Provide advice and guidance to other professionals on the Mental Health Act 1983 and related legislation.
* Prepare and present clear and accurate reports for court proceedings and other legal processes.
* Make informed decisions about the most appropriate course of action for individuals experiencing mental health crises, including applications under the Mental Health Act 1983.
* Advocate for the rights and needs of individuals experiencing mental health crises, ensuring their voices are heard and their wishes are respected. This may involve challenging systems and advocating for improvements where necessary.
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records, adhering to all relevant legislation and professional guidelines. This includes meticulous record-keeping, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with data protection regulations. You will be expected to use the Council's electronic case management system.
* Contribute to the ongoing development and improvement of the team's services. This includes participating in regular supervision and contributing to team meetings and training.
* Participate in regular supervision and training opportunities. This will include regular reflective supervision sessions with a designated supervisor and access to relevant training courses to maintain and enhance your professional knowledge and skills.
* Comply with all relevant policies and procedures of Durham County Council.
Essential Criteria:
* Significant post-qualifying experience as a qualified social worker.
* Current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council.
* Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) designation.
* Excellent communication, assessment, and decision-making skills.
* Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage a demanding workload.
* Thorough understanding of the Mental Health Act 1983 and related legislation.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
* Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
Desirable Criteria:
* Experience working with specific mental health conditions or populations.
* Knowledge of relevant policy frameworks.
* Experience with case management software.
