Department Overview
The Legal Services Department manages various legal matters for the Trust, including inquests, clinical negligence, employee liability claims, and Subject Access Requests. The team also advises staff on legal issues related to Trust business.
Role of Legal Services Assistant
The Legal Services Assistant has delegated responsibilities regarding Subject Access Requests (SARs) in line with UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
Responsibilities
* Assist with processing applications for access to health records from solicitors, insurance companies, police, and other agencies.
* Support requests from patients or relatives.
* Process written requests for health records, including x-rays and digital records.
* Identify information to disclose using hospital systems (Meditech, Evolve, Cerner).
* Ensure compliance with GDPR, Data Protection Act, and other relevant legislation.
* Communicate with patients, relatives, and external agencies.
* Maintain accurate databases and electronic filing systems.
* Handle inquiries tactfully, maintaining confidentiality.
Additional Information
Enrolled in Level 3 Business Administration Apprenticeship, with support and protected time provided.
The post reports to the Head of Legal Services.
