Role Overview
Health Visitor – Band 7 – £52,845 to £61,466 per annum, plus a Distant Islands Allowance of £1,461 per annum. 36 hours per week, permanent post located in Uist and Barra. The successful candidate will work alongside other Health Visitors covering the Western Isles, providing an accessible, high quality, culturally sensitive and effective Health Visiting service in partnership with service users, care providers and other partner agencies.
Responsibilities
* Provide Health Visiting services to children and families in their own homes across Uist and Barra.
* Build and maintain trusting relationships with families and partner agencies.
* Actively manage and document caseloads, including record keeping, data collection, and updating child health records.
* Attend and, where appropriate, chair child well‑being and child protection meetings; submit reports prior to attendance.
* Respond promptly to, report, and, if required, elevate child protection concerns to safeguard children and families.
* Travel throughout the area to deliver services to the community.
Qualifications
* Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).
* Post‑graduate academic qualification as a Health Visitor.
* Proven track record of continuous professional development and innovative practice.
Requirements
* Car ownership and possession of a full UK driving licence.
* Ability and willingness to travel throughout the area.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Good problem‑solving skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Duty of care to respond to, report and safeguard children and families.
Compensation and Working Conditions
Band 7 salary of £52,845 – £61,466 per annum, plus £1,461 per annum for Distant Islands Allowance. The post is permanent and 36 hours per week. Successful applicants will be required to register with the PVG Scheme (Protecting Vulnerable Groups Scheme). This position is not eligible for relocation expenses.
