The Role We are seeking a passionate and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join our supportive team. You will work directly with students aged 11-19 who have a range of special educational needs, helping them access the curriculum and develop essential life skills. Key Responsibilities: Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with diverse SEN requirements Assist teachers in delivering engaging and differentiated lessons Support students with personal care needs where appropriate Help develop and implement individual education plans (IEPs) Encourage student independence and social skills development Assist with behaviour management using positive reinforcement strategies Support students during breaks, lunchtimes, and school activities Maintain accurate records of student progress and incidents Work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and external professionals Essential Requirements Full driving licence (essential due to school location) Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN Understanding of different types of learning difficulties and disabilities Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Patience, empathy, and resilience Ability to work as part of a team and independently Flexibility and adaptability to meet diverse student needs Commitment to safeguarding and promoting student welfare Desirable Qualifications Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification Training in specific SEN areas (Autism, ADHD, etc.) First Aid certification Experience in a secondary school environment Knowledge of Makaton or other communication systems What We Offer Comprehensive induction and ongoing professional development Opportunity to work as part of a supportive, multidisciplinary team Access to specialist training and career progression opportunities Pension scheme The chance to make a meaningful impact on a young person's life To apply, you must show proof of right to work in the UK.
