We're looking for a Head of Engineering to lead our awesome team. As Head of Engineering, you’ll be responsible for scaling up Hoxton Farms’ cultivated fat production from our pilot facility to full-scale manufacturing. You’ll lead our technical operations across three core areas: Production, Scale-Up R&D, and Hardware Development. This is a critical role that blends strategic vision with hands-on execution. Reporting to the CEO, you’ll work closely with the leadership team to shape the company’s roadmap, drive major engineering build projects and ensure our production capability keeps pace with our commercial goals. From deciding the scale-up strategy to delivering our next facility, you’ll have end-to-end responsibility for how we turn science into scalable, sustainable food. Hoxton Farms is growing quickly as we scale up our pilot manufacturing facility in London and build plans for large-scale manufacturing in the UK and overseas. This is an opportunity to lead a talented, enthusiastic and diverse team while playing a huge role in shaping the future of the biomanufacturing industry. You should be a highly experienced leader with a proven track record of hiring engineers, managing projects and developing strategy in a commercial setting. The role is based full-time in person at our HQ in London and will involve travel to oversee contractors, partners or facility builds when needed. We are willing to support international relocation. About Hoxton Farms Hoxton Farms grow cultivated pork fat, a healthy and future ingredient for the food industry. Cofounded in 2020 by Max Jamilly and Ed Steele, we are building the world's most scalable and cost-effective tech stack for mammalian cell biomanufacturing – and we’re monetising it with a premium B2B ingredient. Hoxton Farms are a team of ~50 based in central London. We have raised ~$35m from investors including Founders Fund, Collab Fund, FSV/F-Prime and Global Brain. Healthy fats for a massive market. B2B cultivated fat is fast to market and will dominate a premium niche. Compared to traditional fat, cultivated pork fat offers better nutrition, better food security and minimal environmental impact. Hoxton Farms have commercial traction with meat/CPG companies including some of the largest food companies in Asia. Cost and scale. Hoxton Farms has a uniquely defensible tech stack combining hardware, software and wetware across cell line development, metabolic engineering and process optimisation. We have patented bioreactors for high-yield biomanufacturing at 10x lower capex compared to legacy hardware. We opened a 500L pilot production facility in London in 2023. Team.
