Mott MacDonald Bentley is a joint‑venture business established in 1999 between civil engineering contractor JN Bentley and global management consultancy Mott MacDonald. The company combines JN Bentley’s contracting expertise with Mott MacDonald’s design specialisms to offer fully integrated design‑and‑build services.
As part of the joint‑venture, you will collaborate with Mott MacDonald and JN Bentley colleagues on major water and wastewater schemes across all project phases, from feasibility to construction. Your role – Senior Civil Engineer
You will play a pivotal role in shaping the civil functions throughout the life cycle of various projects, ensuring that all civil aspects are meticulously considered, integrated and compliant with legislation and standards.
Key responsibilities
* Provide design support and guidance for schemes, ensuring designs are fit for purpose and meet current legislation and standards.
* Work closely and collaboratively with the commercial, operational and construction teams to develop efficient, practical and safe solutions throughout design stages and construction.
* Engage positively with the client, managing relationships and adopting a one‑team approach to support them in achieving their aims.
* Manage the interfaces and integration of civil design with other disciplines, and produce documentation.
* Act as technical checker on project documents and undertake technical reviews for projects across teams.
* Identify opportunities to improve delivery processes, including development and implementation of standard designs, sustainable solutions and digital tools.
* Undertake site reviews to ensure buildability of solutions and integration within existing systems.
* Support the development of the civil engineering team, coaching and mentoring engineers, and identifying the correct resources for projects.
What you’ll need
* Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
* Chartership (CEng) with a relevant Engineering Institution.
* Experience of successfully delivering high quality outputs in accordance with design, quality and safety standards.
* Ability to communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders.
* Methodical approach to problem solving.
* A valid driving licence and willingness to travel to sites across your operational region.
