Overview
Job title: Chartered Building Surveyor (associate / senior level) in the Cambridge Building Consultancy team. The role involves advising clients on a broad range of matters including building surveys, dilapidations, defect analysis, assessments, licence for alteration assessments, schedule of conditions and contract administration services on various property types (commercial, industrial, retail, healthcare, automotive and heritage). It also includes coordinating portfolio projects for national clients, liaising across our UK offices, and active client development with existing and new clients. The successful candidate will participate in networking events, client development, and involvement with local groups/professional bodies.
Key responsibilities
* Take a leading role in growing the Building Surveying team, reporting to the head of office with the aim of establishing an recognised service provider within Cambridge and the East Anglian region.
* Manage, coordinate and execute professional instructions including dilapidations, technical due diligence surveys, schedules of condition, planned preventive maintenance (PPM) and reinstatement cost assessments to achieve fee targets.
* Advise clients on building/property issues, including technical, financial, legal, environmental/sustainability, building regulation and restoration matters.
* Provide defined instructions to external consultants for detailed planned maintenance surveys, structural surveys, etc., as required.
* Provide project services including feasibility studies, cost consultancy and contract administration.
* Act as a mentor guiding graduate surveyors through their RICS Assessment of Professional Competence.
* Client liaison and business development.
Person specification
* MRICS Chartered status
* Experience leading a team or taking a leading role within a team
* Good communication and organisational skills
* Highly computer literate
* Full clean driving licence
