Position: Engineering Manager
Location: East Yorkshire
Salary: £80,000 – £85,000 + Pension + Life Assurance + Bonus
Overview
A leading UK manufacturing group is seeking an Engineering Manager to oversee the engineering operations and strategy at a key production site in East Yorkshire. This is a high-impact role within a business undergoing significant growth, with multiple expansion projects and capital investments currently in progress.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineering leader to play a central role in driving reliability, performance, and continuous improvement in a dynamic, high-volume manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Leadership & Team Development
* Manage and develop a multidisciplinary engineering team, building a culture of accountability, responsiveness, and continuous improvement. Partner with the Site Director to ensure effective training, development, and succession planning within the department.
* Planned & Reactive Maintenance
* Lead the delivery and optimisation of the site’s preventative maintenance (PPM) strategy, ensuring minimal downtime and supporting operational efficiency across all production areas.
* Project Delivery & Capex
* Oversee the installation and commissioning of new machinery, ensuring all plant and equipment meet UK and EU health and safety standards. Contribute to the successful planning and execution of capital and site improvement projects.
* Compliance & Standards
* Ensure engineering systems, documentation, and activities fully satisfy internal standards and external audit requirements. Promote and maintain high standards of hygiene, safety, and housekeeping across all engineering-controlled areas.
* KPI & Performance Monitoring
* Report on key engineering metrics, using data to identify trends, drive efficiencies, and support production targets. Work closely with operational leadership to ensure alignment and responsiveness.
* Cost Management
* Take responsibility for engineering-related budgets, including labour, materials, and spares. Drive cost-effective practices while ensuring the team remains equipped to deliver results.
Ideal Candidate Profile
* Significant experience in a senior engineering role within a fast-paced manufacturing or production environment
* Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to develop high-performing teams
* Solid understanding of compliance, maintenance planning, and engineering best practice
* Proactive, hands-on mindset with strong communication and problem-solving skills
* Experience delivering capital projects and managing installations is highly advantageous
