We're looking for a Technical Director - Environmental Assessment to provide strategic leadership across major water and infrastructure programmes throughout the UK and Ireland. This is a senior opportunity to guide technical excellence, mentor teams, and play a central role in advancing environmental best practice within a highly regarded, sustainability-focused consultancy. The Opportunity In this position, you'll: Lead environmental assessment strategy and delivery for major regulated water and infrastructure projects. Oversee the preparation of environmental appraisals and assessments, ensuring quality, compliance, and alignment with legislative frameworks. Support and mentor a growing team of environmental specialists and consultants across multiple regions. Collaborate with a wide range of technical disciplines to deliver joined-up, sustainable project outcomes. Help shape and deliver an internal environmental training and development programme designed to strengthen capability across the business. Contribute to business strategy, thought leadership, and innovation within environmental management and assessment. You'll also have the opportunity to work on a range of wider environmental and sustainability projects beyond EIA, supporting a broad and impactful portfolio of work. About You You'll bring: Extensive experience (20 years) in environmental assessment, planning, and advisory roles. Strong understanding of UK environmental legislation and consenting processes, ideally with exposure to the water sector. Proven ability to manage complex multi-disciplinary projects and to engage effectively with clients, regulators, and stakeholders. A collaborative and inclusive leadership style, with a passion for developing teams and sharing expertise. A relevant degree in an environmental or related discipline and Chartered status (for example, CIWEM, IEMA, or CIEEM). Experience working within or alongside the regulated utilities or infrastructure sectors. Knowledge of marine assessment or experience with Development Consent Orders (DCOs) and Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) would be beneficial, but not essential.
