ROLE: Data Centre Engineer – Mechanical Bias
HOURS: Monday - Friday 08:00 - 17:00
LOCATION: JCA Data Centre Site - Waltham Cross

We're looking for a Data Centre Engineer – Mechanical Bias to support the smooth, safe, and efficient operation of a high‑performance JCA data centre environment.
Role Responsibilities:
1. Deliver planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance across all mechanical systems within the data centre.
2. Support the operation, monitoring, and troubleshooting of critical mechanical infrastructure, including CRAC units, HVAC systems, AHUs, pumps, and chilled water systems.
3. Conduct mechanical fault‑finding, diagnostics, and repair work to maintain uptime and site resilience.
4. Work closely with the engineering and on‑site facilities teams to ensure compliance with operational standards, SLAs, and safety regulations.
5. Maintain accurate records, logs, and reports, ensuring documentation meets client and Mitie standards.
6. Support in emergency response situations, including mechanical plant failures or environmental alarms.
7. Carry out routine inspections and performance checks to ensure optimal plant operation.
Required Qualifications:
Applicants must meet the below defined requirements for the role.
8. Recognised mechanical engineering qualification (C&G, NVQ, HNC or equivalent).
9. Experience working within mission‑critical or data centre environments.
10. Strong mechanical systems knowledge including chilled water, HVAC, and cooling plant.
11. F‑Gas qualification – highly desirable.
12. Chiller‑bias background or experience working on chilled water systems – highly favourable.
13. Good understanding of health & safety procedures including risk assessments and safe systems of work.
14. Ability to work independently and as part of a high‑performing engineering team.
