Due to continued expansion we have a fantastic opportunity for an Ambulance Care Assistant (Secure Mental Health) to join our amazing team based in Burgess Hill, Sussex.
We are looking for enthusiastic, care‑focused individuals who are passionate about people and feel they want to make a difference. Preferably you will have experience in a care, security, prison or public service background.
Your main responsibility will be supporting the police and other professionals with transporting service users to and from healthcare facilities. This can be carried out alone or as a two‑ or three‑person team, so it is vital to hold a full UK driving licence. Full training will be provided for this rewarding role.
Full‑time role: Monday to Friday 8‑hour shifts or 4 on 4 off 10‑hour shifts, including weekends on a rota basis, covering 24 hours per day.

Main Duties
* Work as part of a team to support service users onboard
* Ensure the vehicle is safely and responsibly driven
* Assist service users with challenging behaviour and/or mental health illnesses
* Provide physical intervention when required
* Transport vulnerable service users to hospitals, homes, prisons and other medical/care settings
* Liaise with hospital staff and the police for safe conveyance
* Secure and assist service users in and out of the ambulance
* Hand over service users to appropriate staff on arrival
* Transfer patients between beds, stretchers, chairs, etc., both in and out of hospital and during flights
* Maintain cleanliness and safety of the ambulance
Successful Candidates Will Have
* Full manual UK driving licence
* Experience in care, security, prison or public service background
* Commitment to patient care and ability to build rapport with patients
* Effective communication skills for emotional and difficult circumstances
* Calm, considerate driver with no more than six penalty points on licence
* Strong teamwork and collaboration skills
* Physical fitness for patient handling, moving and occasional restraint
* Problem‑solving ability and recognising changes in patient behaviour under demanding situations
