Engagement with the UK Government is crucial in order to protect devolved responsibilities. To safeguard Scotland’s transport priorities, this post supports the monitoring of UK policy developments, UK bills, and legislative proposals at Westminster. Therefore, the post supports legislative monitoring by tracking bills, maintaining records, and sharing updates with policy teams. Assists with meetings, governance tasks, and general team support to help protect devolved transport responsibilities. The post sits within the UK Relations & Legislation Team and will report to the Legislation and Governance Officer. Responsibilities Track bills and legislation as they move through the various stages of UK or Scottish Parliaments, collating information and decisions from Hansard and Official Reports, and sharing with relevant policy teams to seek their views. Accurate record keeping and maintaining key governance processes, including updating relevant Bills and Legislation trackers and document storage on eRDM. Support proactive research from horizon scanning or internal documents. Monitor and identify each stage of a Bill’s passage to ensure that relevant teams are aware of upcoming key dates. Assist in the scheduling and organising of legislative meetings, including circulating agendas, papers, and note taking. Coordinate and track actions arising from meetings to ensure they are followed up. Support the B2 by issuing and responding to general queries and commissions, along with other secretarial duties as required. Support with team governance activities such as updating the One Note, weekly hot topics and whiteboard. Support the wider team as necessary during busy periods or absences. Experience Experience in document and governance process management along with evidence gathering to inform submissions and briefings. Work autonomously to proactively manage workloads to meet deadlines.
