Lawyer – Group Legal, Group Operations & Commercial Legal (FTC)
Join Lloyds Banking Group as a fixed‑term commercial lawyer until 30 September 2026, based in Edinburgh, Chester, Halifax, Leeds, Bristol & Newport. Work hybrid, at least two days a week in one of our office sites.
About this opportunity
This role delivers legal support across the Group, working with the Group Chief Operating Office, People & Places and customer‑facing business areas. You will help drive transformation and protect the Group’s interests through commercial contracts, procurement and cyber security initiatives.
Day‑to‑day responsibilities
* Negotiate, draft and advise on Group‑wide supplier contracts for IT (SaaS, Cloud, AI) and operational services.
* Resolve performance or contractual issues in supplier relationships, including contentious matters.
* Ensure projects align with regulatory requirements and conduct horizon scanning.
* Identify key legal risks, advise on implications for the Group and provide pragmatic, solution‑focused advice.
* Deliver training to internal business partners on relevant legal topics.
* Provide quick legal support through the team helpline for ad‑hoc queries.
* Support effective selection and management of external legal counsel.
What you’ll need
* Fully qualified lawyer with a current practising certificate for a UK jurisdiction (or equivalent qualification).
* Experience negotiating commercial contracts, outsourcing arrangements and technology agreements, either in‑house or private practice.
* Strong commercial awareness and customer‑focused approach.
* Excellent influencing, communication and pro‑active approach; interact with executives and senior leaders.
Additional useful experience
* Advising clients in the financial services sector and awareness of outsourcing regulatory requirements.
