OVERVIEW
CAA Books is a fast-paced and growing department selling publication and media rights across all languages, territories, and formats to establish and develop literary careers worldwide; we work with internationally acclaimed and bestselling authors across fiction and non-fiction.
We are looking for a new detail-oriented and efficient Publishing Assistant to Literary Agent to join our team, primarily to support one of our Agents. This Assistant will work on a client list comprised of local and international authors, including names like Margaret Atwood, Philippa Perry, Siri Hustvedt, Florence Knapp, Oliver Bullough as well as many other bestselling and prize-winning writers of fiction and non-fiction.

RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Management of a busy diary and contacts lists, travel booking, scheduling & expenses.
2. Logging deals on behalf of the Literary Agent and submissions management.
3. Management of multiple databases, from publication to rights.
4. Liaising with our Business Affairs and Accounts departments to track payments and contracts.
5. Reading and commenting on authors’ new material and submissions.
6. Dealing with enquiries about rights, publicity and author material.
7. Acting as the primary point of contact for client enquiries by telephone and email.
8. Liaising with the Literary Agent on day-to-day author business.
9. Fielding phone calls and emails for the Literary Agent.
10. Correspondence drafting.
11. Preparing newsletters, writing website and marketing copy.
12. Handling post, author copies, book orders.
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
13. Must have a passion for books/reading and be keen to develop a career in the publishing industry.
14. Interest in other types of media, such as podcasts, film/TV, visual arts, and the ability to identify trends.
15. Should have proven solid administrative experience.
16. Excellent organisation skills and attention to detail.
17. Ability to take ownership of tasks and prioritise workload to meet tight deadlines.
18. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
19. Previous experience with Outlook and other MS Office programmes.
20. Additional language skills are desirable but not essential.
21. Publishing experience preferable.
