We have an exciting opportunity for a Theatre Clinical Educator to work with the Practice Development Nurse/Lead of the theatre team at Lewisham & Greenwich NHS Trust. Band 6 positions are available at both sites: University Hospital Lewisham and Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
Responsibilities
* Provide direct clinical support and training, facilitate and deliver teaching and educational programmes to all theatre staff.
* Supervise and assess pre‑registration students from five universities (nursing, operating department practitioners, paramedics and midwives).
* Lead staff education and induction, designing and running induction programmes and preceptorships for new theatre staff, and coordinate continuous professional development (CPD).
* Maintain a highly visible clinical presence to provide hands‑on support, lead by example and assist the multidisciplinary team in complex surgical, anaesthetic or recovery environments.
* Evaluate and sign off on competencies for various surgical, anaesthetic and recovery skills.
* Translate new clinical guidelines, safety policies and evidence‑based practices into daily theatre routines, working closely with theatre clinical leads and matrons.
* Support supervisors of staff and students within clinical placements at Lewisham and Greenwich.
* Identify areas of performance that may need improvement and work alongside the nursing workforce to achieve standardisation of practice.
* Develop working relationships within the clinical areas and departmental teams and managers, and educate them on the curricula and requirements of all staff and students.
