Opportunity We have new opportunities within our Tax team based in our Edinburgh office. There may be potential for the successful candidate at assistant manager or manager level to be based in our Glasgow office with requirement to attend the Edinburgh office on a weekly basis. The positions are on a full-time permanent basis, core hours are Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, 33.75 hours per week. We are also open to either part-time or full-time candidates. The role will principally be based in our Edinburgh office, although we support a hybrid working approach once sufficient experience of performing the role has been obtained. Role and Responsibilities New opportunities have arisen across varying levels between Tax Assistant to Tax Manager. Our Tax team provide high net worth individuals, families and family businesses with tax planning, personal and capital gains tax and trust and executry tax advice. As a member of the team you will be provided with your own allocation of client work and you will also review own clients regularly to ensure files, section records and other matters, including feeing tax matters, are up-to-date and annually review the client’s affairs against a check list to consider if tax mitigation is possible and provide pro-active tax advice on the mitigation of tax liabilities. You will prepare and complete Personal, Trust and Estate Return forms and provide advice and assistance to clients and trustees in relation to Income Tax and Capital Gains tax matters. You will ensure correct tax returns are prepared and submitted to HMRC within time limits. This will include preparing returns for individuals, trusts, estates, and charities. Person Specification These are the ideal roles for individuals with strong knowledge of personal tax, experience in relation to trusts and executries tax is advantageous. At Assistant Manager level and above successful candidates will have experience working in a similar role within professional services with a strong background in Personal Tax, UK Income Tax and Capital Gains knowledge. You will ideally be ATT qualified and/or CIOT qualified (or working towards qualification), ensuring you maintain up to date knowledge of relevant tax legislation and rules. The ability to work directly and professionally with clients and colleagues of all levels is required. Strong organisation and communication skills will be essential as is experience using Microsoft Office packages, particularly Excel. Full training will be given on other platforms which are used in the business. You are expected to be a strong team player who also has the ability to work on their own initiative with minimum supervision. A high level of discretion and confidentiality is a requirement of this role, as you will be exposed to sensitive client data and financial information.
