Role: Junior Buyer / Purchasing Administrator

Salary : £26,000 - £28,000

Location: Huntingdon, Cambridge



Job Purpose:


As a member of the Commercial team, to provide support to the Sales and other teams in the company. To plan and manage the sourcing, ordering and expediting goods, materials, and services to ensure that the company’s operational needs are achieved. To support in procuring materials and services considering price, quality, and delivery to ensure continuity of supply.


This role would also suit you if you have held a role within purchasing or procurement as a Junior Buyer, Purchasing Assistant / Administrator or Expeditor.



Key responsibilities



1. Work with Buyers, planner, Sales and production to identify gaps and delays in the delivery of components.

2. Engage with suppliers to expedite and co-ordinate timing, resolve price, quality, delivery, or invoice issues, communicate and feedback to the team.

3. Provide and update relevant Reports as necessary (shortages, trackers, kit dates etc..).

4. Attend production and sales meetings, and provide clear reports and dates.

5. Perform admin duties, maintaining accurate records on MRP following policies, procedures, instructions, and guidelines.

6. Run and action relevant reports (daily, weekly, monthly), and highlight areas of concern.

7. Manage and purchase stock levels of production consumables, indirect and Purchase Req goods and services.

8. Provide cover for other team members.

9. Look for cost downs with of goods and services to improve overall budget savings.

10. Ensure that a professional and consistent approach is taken at all times, and meetings are reported back to the team.

11. Be willing to be flexible and learn new skills undertaking duties relevant to the role.




Personal Specification for: Junior Buyer / Purchasing Administrator


1. Preferred: Two years’ experience working within purchasing.

2. Preferred: Exposure to or knowledge of electronic components and PCB's.

3. Preferred: Good working knowledge of MRP / ERP systems.

4. Essential: Organised and ability to prioritise own workload.

5. Essential: Numerate, accurate, attention to detail.

6. Essential: Excellent IT skills including Intermediate Excel skills (V Look Up, formulas).

7. Preferred: Strong communication skills.

8. Ability to work well on your own initiative and as part of a team.

9. Self-motivated and enthusiastic.

10. Willingness to work if required in other areas of the business.



Training and guidance will be given where required.
