Systems Administrator - Revenues

Temporary up to 12 months or until the post holder returns; whichever is earlier
The Council’s Finance Department provides a range of effective, efficient and high-quality professional services, supporting Members, managers, staff, services, schools, and external partners in delivering the Council's objectives.
We are seeking an enthusiastic systems administrator to manage the operational administration of the Council’s revenue systems in line with corporate needs and the system needs of individual users.
You will be responsible for the day-to-day management and maintenance of the systems, ensuring efficient and effective functionality for all users. You will also lead the implementation of new software and upgrades to existing software, ensuring thorough testing and liaising with relevant software suppliers and users.
The role involves:
1. Continuous review, development, and improvement of systems to meet new initiatives, legislation, and objectives.
2. Contributing to system developments to optimize system functionality.
3. Collaborating with other teams to improve system integration and operation.
4. Managing customer queries and ensuring all requests are resolved promptly.
5. Producing ad hoc reports and analysis to address data integrity issues.
6. Training financial system users on new tools and responding to user inquiries.
7. Managing, training, and developing staff.
Qualifications and experience required:
* QCF (NVQ) Level 4 or equivalent in a related field, or significant experience in major financial systems administration.
* Knowledge and understanding of financial operations within a Local Government environment.
* Excellent ICT skills, strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* Excellent organization and presentation skills.
* Ability to manage and motivate staff to ensure effective service delivery.
Protecting children, young people, or adults at risk is a core responsibility of all council employees.
A Basic criminal records check by the Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) and a Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) check are required for this post.
The council’s Hybrid Working Policy applies to this post, providing flexibility between working from home and the office.
Under the provisions of the Local Government and Housing Act 1989, this post is politically restricted.
Weekend working at year-end is a requirement of this post.
