Job Summary: Quest Global is responsible for the design, specification, and control of gas turbine projects worldwide. This vacancy is for a consultant Naval Architect to develop a strategy to certify a warship powerplant in accordance with Lloyds Register Naval Ship Rules (NSR) 2020.

The role involves defining Lloyds Register requirements, specifying engagement procedures, and ensuring compliance activities for the gas turbine powerplant installation in a warship meet Lloyds standards.

This is a 12-month Outside IR35 contract based in Bristol, UK. Due to UK Defence content, work must be completed 100% in-office.


Roles and Responsibilities

1. Identify and review Inspection and Test Plans for the powerplant.
2. Compile Lloyds Strategy Document based on existing strategies.
3. Define communication channels for Lloyds Certification with OEMs and stakeholders.
4. Plan and lead activities for powerplant certification against Lloyds requirements.
5. Define and optimize certification strategies with stakeholders.
6. Assess OEM substantiation for obtaining Drawing Approval Documents (DAD).
7. Liaise with Lloyds Register to ensure certification plans are followed.
8. Facilitate Inspection & Test Plans (ITP) definition between suppliers and Lloyds Register.
9. Identify opportunities to minimize effort while maintaining compliance.
10. Escalate risks related to non-compliance, costs, and timescales.
11. Provide feedback for continuous improvement.


Work Experience and Skills

* Deep understanding of Lloyds Register Naval Ship Rules (NSR) 2020 for warships and powerplants.
* Knowledge of technical databases, design documentation, and drawings.
* Understanding of export and intellectual property controls.
* Proficiency in MS Office and familiarity with MS Teams.


Desired Characteristics

* Familiarity with gas turbine engine processes and MRO activities.
* Problem-solving and documentation skills.
* Experience with engine testing, certification, and safety considerations.
* SC-level Security Clearance is advantageous but not essential.


Qualifications

BSc/MSc/MEng in engineering or science, or equivalent aerospace/marine industry experience.
