3 days ago Be among the first 25 applicants

This is a Fixed Term/Secondment vacancy until 31/12/2026.

If you are a Hywel Dda University Health Board employee applying for this secondment, approval from your current manager is required prior to application.

We seek a motivated registered nurse, social worker, or occupational therapist to join our expanding multidisciplinary mental health team within the Specialist Child & Adolescent Mental Health Service (S-CAMHS), Hywel Dda University Health Board.

The role involves two main functions: providing psychologically informed consultation, training, and support to education professionals in schools through the Schools in-Reach program; and conducting assessments and interventions for children and adolescents with mild to moderate mental health difficulties.

Main Responsibilities:

* Direct work with children, young people, and families in clinics and community settings.
* Supporting school staff to meet the mental health and wellbeing needs of pupils.
* Providing liaison and training to external colleagues within the local authority.

In direct work, the post holder will assess mental health needs, offer advice and support, and deliver brief interventions to prevent or reduce mental health difficulties, in line with the Welsh Government Mental Health Measures 2010.

The team aims to build confidence among schools in managing mental health and emotional wellbeing issues, through regular advice, consultation, and training sessions, responding to their needs as they arise.

Hywel Dda University Health Board serves Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire, and neighboring counties, providing NHS services through over 13,000 staff across primary, community, hospital, mental health, and learning disability services. Our partners include local authorities, public, private, and third sectors, and volunteers.

Service Locations include:

* Four hospitals: Bronglais, Glangwili, Prince Philip, and Withybush.
* Five community hospitals and two integrated care centers in Ceredigion and Pembrokeshire.
* Numerous GP practices, dental practices, pharmacies, ophthalmic practices, and mental health services.

Interviews are scheduled for 25.07.25.

This Band 6 Primary Mental Health Practitioner role is open only to registered Nurses and Allied Health Professionals. Applications from General, Paediatric, School nurses, Health Visitors, Mental Health Nurses, Social Workers, and Occupational Therapists are encouraged to support early intervention and resilience-building in children and young people.

A full job description and person specification are available in the supporting documents.

The Health Board promotes bilingualism to enhance patient and service user experiences. Welsh language skills are desirable; support and training are available to meet minimal language requirements during employment.
