Job Overview
The Adult ADHD service is looking for a motivated and enthusiastic full‑time Band 7 Clinical Specialist Nurse to plan and deliver nurse‑led Adult ADHD clinics and interventions within a multi‑disciplinary and inter‑agency framework. Responsibilities include prescribing and monitoring medication for ADHD under the guidance and supervision of medical staff, and assessing and diagnosing ADHD in adults. The role also supports service development, establishes care pathways, facilitates training for primary care staff and implements performance monitoring systems.

Responsibilities
* Plan and deliver nurse‑led Adult ADHD clinics and interventions within a multi‑disciplinary framework.
* Prescribe and monitor medication for ADHD under medical supervision.
* Assess and diagnose ADHD in adults.
* Support service development, respond to local needs and establish effective care pathways.
* Facilitate training for GP's and other primary care staff.
* Establish performance monitoring systems and be accountable for own practice.
* Operate nurse‑led clinics autonomously, assessing and treating patients and referring when necessary.
* Routinely undertake independent and supplementary nurse prescribing.
* Manage the healthcare of complex/vulnerable individuals within the Adult ADHD Service.
* Screen patients for risk factors and early signs of illness.
* Overall responsibility for assessment planning, development, implementation and evaluation of individual client care programmes.
* Assist in developing assessment tools, training packs and pathways in accordance with NICE guidance.
* Comply with HSC 2000/026, Patient Group Directions and NMC Code of Conduct for prescribing.
* Offer supervision/reflective practice within a multi‑disciplinary team.
* Set, monitor and evaluate standards of practice to ensure quality and effective governance.
* Utilise research‑based nursing practice and critical appraisal skills to inform clinical practice.
Qualifications
* Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) qualification.
* Nurse Prescribing Qualification (or completed within 12 months of appointment).
* Evidence of ongoing training and development.
Desirable Qualifications
* Post‑graduate training in Mental Health.
* Management certificate/qualification.
* ECDL (European Computer Driving Licence) or equivalent.
Knowledge and Expertise
* Understanding of issues relating to ADHD and recognition of the influence of local and national guidance.
* Understanding of interventions for ADHD and models of good practice.
* Understanding of Clinical Governance in relation to service delivery.
* Effective written and oral communication and liaison skills.
* Effective organisational and management skills.
Desirable Knowledge and Expertise
* Knowledge of the framework in which NHS and social services operate.
* Presentation skills and ability to deliver training.
* Understanding of performance management and ability to develop monitoring systems.
Experience
* Experience of clinical work within Mental Health.
* Substantial experience at Band 6 or above.
* Working on own initiative and as part of a team.
* Staff management and supervision.
Desirable Experience
* Some experience of working as a nurse prescriber.
* Organisation and delivery of education and training.
* Experience of clinical work within ADHD services (Child or Adult).
