Brief Description
The Senior HR Business Partner will act as a trusted partner to the senior leadership team, proactively addressing people-related needs to enhance performance. Responsibilities include leading talent and succession planning, employee relations, performance management, engagement, and EDI initiatives, while delivering HR projects aligned with business priorities. The role involves coaching leaders to improve leadership capabilities and fostering a high-performance culture.
The Senior HRBP will also develop and mentor the HR Business Partner team, promoting collaboration and strategic HR initiatives. A key focus is enhancing line managers' people management skills, promoting accountability and leadership effectiveness. The role may involve deputising for the Head of HR and requires a strategic, solution-focused approach with resilience and commercial insight.
Key Accountabilities
1. Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with business objectives, supporting a high-performance culture.
2. Build strong relationships with senior leaders, advising and co-developing people initiatives.
3. Lead and support change programmes, driving HR solutions within the business.
4. Manage trade union relationships proactively.
5. Reinforce ownership of people management across the organization.
6. Influence development of HR strategies and policies.
7. Collaborate with HR teams to improve HR services and address cross-business issues.
Job Skills, Experience, and Qualifications
Essential
* Strong business acumen and understanding of business needs.
* Experience partnering with senior leaders to improve people management.
* Customer service orientation and achievement articulation.
* Knowledge of HR best practices to foster high performance.
* Ability to establish credibility quickly.
* Experience coaching and influencing senior leaders.
* Excellent communication and negotiation skills.

* Qualified CIPD or equivalent experience.
* Proven ability in complex environments and managing change programs like TUPE, re-design, redundancies.
* Graduate calibre.
* Experience in highly unionised settings, especially for Maintenance & Operations roles.
