Overview
Harsco Rail is a global supplier of railway track Maintenance of Way (MoW) products and services. This role covers maintenance and IT support responsibilities as part of the Rail division; it requires adherence to health and safety, quality, and environmental policies.
Responsibilities
* Carry out scheduled maintenance activities in line with VMI & VOI requirements as instructed by your Line Manager
* Assist your Line Manager with the timely rectification of outstanding machine faults and manage all machine faults via FAMS
* Be competent in grinder maintenance, repairs and fault finding
* Maximise machine availability
* Undertake duties in line with agreed roster
* Maintain competency in line with role requirements
* Perform machine maintenance tasks and ensure proper documentation, tooling, spare parts, consumables, safety equipment and waste disposal
* Be responsible for the quality and condition of your vehicle and storage of tooling, parts, equipment and PPE as per HR/ADV/H/G/004
* Ensure the OTM is signed off as "fit for service" after any maintenance or repair activity
* Comply with all company policies and procedures, including Health & Safety, Quality & Environmental
* Utilise IT equipment to update and access apps and programs associated with the role (FAMS, Q-Pulse, etc)
* Engage with your Line Manager to identify and implement continuous improvement activities
Responsibilities & Duties (IT Support, if applicable)
* Self-motivated to complete assignments and know when to seek clarification
* Provide first point of contact for end-user technical support and maximize user experience
* Establish and maintain effective relationships with all levels of users
* Deliver outstanding customer service through direct IT support
* Prioritise service issues based on competing priorities
* Set up, install and maintain desktop and laptop hardware/software, peripherals and network printers
* Set up and maintain site network structures, access rights, security, users and printing
* Manage site network servers with patches, changes and monitoring
* Troubleshoot and repair network, server and telephony infrastructure and site systems
* Troubleshoot and resolve issues with site systems and desktop applications
* Assist with maintaining computer room, network cabling and documentation
* Occasional non-business hour work may be required to resolve issues
* Maintain site desktop application setup and streamline processes to prevent future problems
* Prepare cost requests and procure equipment to meet business needs
* Maintain inventories and assist with audits of site hardware and software
* Monitor server uptime, virus protection and software updates
* Assist with system backups and disaster recovery plans
* Escalate issues to the Global Infrastructure Manager as appropriate
* Ensure all IT activities comply with global compliance standards and procedures
* Document all support calls for performance metrics
Qualifications
* Recognised mechanical/electrical/maintenance qualification
* Track safety qualifications (PTS, DP)
* IT skills including Outlook, Excel, Word, Adobe, CMS (Assure), Document Control System (Q-Pulse)
* Advanced knowledge of machine and systems
* Risk assessment skills
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Self-motivated with the ability to work independently
* Strong time management and prioritisation skills
* Customer-focused with attention to detail
