The role
As Senior Buyer, youll lead the site purchasing team and drive cost-effective, compliant procurement across engineering and operational spend. Youll work closely with production, engineering, and central functions to deliver measurable savings and strong supplier performance.
Key responsibilities include:
Leading and supervising thesite purchasing team
Deliveringcost-reduction initiativesaligned to group strategy
Supporting and embeddingcategory management approaches
ManagingSAP MM / MRPfor spares and inventory control
Sourcingnon-stock engineering parts and specialist services
Implementing and managingservice and maintenance contracts
Acting asSAP MM key userfor the site
Improving stock control, accuracy, security, and working capital
What were looking for
Proven Senior Buyer or Supervisory Buyer experience inmanufacturing or heavy engineering
Strongnegotiation, analysis, and stakeholder managementskills
Confident people manager able to influence across departments
SolidSAP MM and MRPexperience
Flexible, delivery-focused approach suited to a site-based role
Knowledge, experience & qualifications
CIPS Level 4 or above / equivalent experience
Track record ofcost reduction and supplier performance improvement
Experience managingtenders and contract negotiations
Category management experience advantageous (not essential)
Strong SAP troubleshooting and systems ownership mindset
