Band 6: Specialist Speech & Language Therapist (ICATT North & South)
This role is part of the Specialist Speech and Language Therapy Service within Nottinghamshire Healthcare Foundation Trust. It supports adults with intellectual disabilities and/or autism who live in Nottinghamshire.
* Perform specialist speech, language and communication assessments focusing on functional communication and identifying required reasonable adjustments (Accessible Information Standards).
* Conduct assessments and observations to support the team’s aim of maintaining positive relationships and reducing placement breakdown and hospital admission.
* Contribute to the person‑centred formulation of individual needs and care plans by adding a functional and environmental communication perspective, using the 5 Good Communication Standards.
* Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary team (MDT) colleagues, families and carers to enable inclusive communication practices in all interactions with the individual.
* Liaise, advise and provide recommendations to prevent further communication breakdown and empower individuals to express their thoughts and opinions to the extent they wish.
* Attend meetings on behalf of ICATT and the individual to plan for ongoing and accessible care.
* Enjoy close links with the team and support from senior colleagues and an assistant SLT.
* Maintain a full UK driving licence and use a vehicle for business purposes (reasonable adjustments will be made for disabled individuals in line with the Equality Act 2010).
