CAD Technician – 132kV Cabling Project (Slough-Based, Contract Role) Location: Slough – On-site minimum 3 days/week ️ Contract Duration: 3 Months Sector: Utilities / Power / Infrastructure Rate: Competitive (DOE) – Contract basis Experienced CAD Technician Required – Major 132kV Cabling Infrastructure Programme We are seeking a highly capable and experienced CAD Technician to support the delivery of a major infrastructure scheme – the Iver 132kV Cable Programme – based out of a new project office in Slough. Working directly under instruction from the Project Manager, the successful candidate will provide full-time CAD support over an initial three-month contract from 1st July to 30th September 2025. This is a critical role within a high-performing project team delivering complex high-voltage (HV) underground cable works. About the Role: * You will be embedded within the Iver 132kV Cable Programme team, working closely with engineers, planners, and construction leads to produce accurate technical drawings for underground cabling and associated civil works. * A minimum of three days per week co-location at the new Slough project office is required to ensure close collaboration with project stakeholders and alignment with real-time site data. * The contractor will provide the necessary IT infrastructure and CAD facilities on-site, enabling seamless delivery of outputs. Key Responsibilities: * Prepare and modify detailed CAD drawings for HV cabling infrastructure, including trench routes, joint bays, ducting, and cable configurations. * Translate site survey data, engineering inputs, and technical standards into clear and accurate 2D drawings. * Coordinate with design engineers and construction teams to maintain alignment between design intent and on-site conditions. * Support the project team with timely updates, drawing revisions, and submission tracking in line with programme requirements. * Ensure drawing standards are maintained in accordance with client and regulatory specifications. Essential Requirements: * Strong prior experience as a CAD Technician on utilities or cabling infrastructure projects, ideally including high-voltage or 132kV works. * Proficient in AutoCAD 2D (3D a bonus). * Familiarity with underground cable routing, utility coordination, and civil layout drawings. * Able to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. * Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple drawing packages in parallel. * Must be available to work on-site in Slough at least 3 days per week. * Excellent communication and organisational skills. Desirable Experience: * Experience working on power or DNO/IDNO projects. * Knowledge of GIS data integration, survey processing, or cable management systems. * Previous work with tier 1 contractors or utilities providers in the power sector.
