Learning Support Assistant (LSA) Summergil House School – Presteigne Full-Time | Permanent | Term-Time Only Salary: £20,021 – £23,049 (term-time only)
(Annual pay is split equally across 12 months – you will be paid during school holidays)
Full-Time Equivalent: £26,339 – £30,732

About the Role
This is a hands-on, highly rewarding position where no two days are the same. You will support children with autism and complex needs, helping them to:

What You’ll Be Doing
Supporting pupils with autism and complex needs (1:1 and small groups)
Assisting teachers with lessons, activities, and behaviour support
Encouraging positive behaviour and emotional regulation
Supporting routines, transitions, and personal care (where required)
Delivering engaging indoor and outdoor learning experiences
Supporting life skills such as cooking, gardening, and community activities
Building strong, trusting relationships with pupils
What We’re Looking For
Essential:
Experience working with children or vulnerable individuals (education, care, or support work) training is provided don’t let minimal experience stop you from applying.
A patient, calm, and resilient approach
Strong communication and teamwork skills
GCSEs in English and Maths (or equivalent)
Basic IT skills
Desirable:
Qualification in Supporting Teaching & Learning or similar
Important to Know
This role can be physically and emotionally demanding. Some pupils may display behaviours of concern, and you will need to respond with calmness, consistency, and empathy.
Full training and ongoing support will be provided.
Safeguarding
This role requires an Enhanced DBS check, including a barred list check.
