Electronics Design Engineer
Location: Dover, Kent (Hybrid working)
Salary: £55,000 depending on experience
Security: Must be eligible for UK SC clearance
An established UK engineering business is looking for an Electronics Design Engineer to join its multidisciplinary team. The company develops and manufactures specialist electronic and electro-mechanical systems used in technically demanding environments.
This is a hybrid role based in Dover, combining on-site engineering activity with flexibility to work from home where suitable.
You’ll be involved across the full product lifecycle, from concept and detailed design through to production and end-of-life support. The role works closely with mechanical and software teams to deliver new products and maintain existing platforms.
The Role
You will:
* Capture and refine technical specifications
* Select and evaluate suitable technologies
* Produce schematic designs and carry out circuit simulation
* Complete PCB layout and peer reviews
* Prepare technical documentation, reports and test specifications
* Lead design verification and formal qualification testing
* Support production, including fault finding and process documentation
* Manage component obsolescence
* Attend customer and supplier visits when required
What We’re Looking For
Qualifications
* Degree in Electronic Engineering or equivalent experience
* CID / CID+ desirable
* CEng desirable
Experience
* Experience in an electronic design and development role
* Exposure to electro-mechanical systems
* Understanding of control systems
Technical Skills
* Schematic capture and PCB design (Altium or similar)
* SPICE circuit simulation
* MATLAB and Simulink
* Prototype build and soldering
* Strong mathematical ability
* Embedded C / C++ knowledge desirable
* Application-level C++ / C# knowledge desirable
* Proficient with MS Office
Knowledge
* Control theory, servo systems and control loops
* Digital signal processing and data acquisition
* PCB manufacturing and inspection processes
* EMC awareness (MIL-STD-461 / 810 advantageous)
* Good mechanical understanding
