Primary Objective
As an Electrical Commissioning Manager – High Voltage (HV), you will lead and oversee the commissioning of high-voltage electrical systems, including substations, switchgear, transformers, and transmission/distribution infrastructure across complex engineering projects. This role ensures that all commissioning activities are thoroughly planned, executed, validated, and documented in accordance with project requirements, regulatory standards, and client expectations. You will play a key role in delivering safe energization and reliable operation of HV systems.
Responsibilities:
1. Lead commissioning of HV equipment including transformers, GIS/AIS switchgear, HV cables, protection and control systems
2. Manage energization procedures and ensure readiness for first power
3. Oversee protection relay testing, settings validation, and functional testing
4. Ensure compliance with HV safety rules, switching procedures, and permit-to-work systems
5. Coordinate grid compliance and interface requirements with utilities or transmission operators
6. Supervise high-voltage testing (, insulation resistance, HV withstand, partial discharge, cable testing)
7. Review and approve single-line diagrams (SLDs), protection schemes, and interlocking logic
8. Lead pre-commissioning and commissioning of substations and HV networks
9. Ensure proper implementation of earthing/grounding systems and safety clearances
Skills:
10. Minimum 5 years’ experience in commissioning or project management within high-voltage (HV) electrical systems
11. Demonstrated expertise in commissioning substations, transmission/distribution systems, and HV infrastructure
12. Strong knowledge of protection & control systems, SCADA, and grid compliance requirements
13. Familiarity with international HV standards (, IEC, IEEE, grid codes)
14. Experience with HV switching operations and safety procedures
15. Previous experience with energization and live system integration is highly desirable

Required Qualifications
16. A minimum of 4 years of industry experience dealing with mechanical, electrical and controls disciplines
17. Proven ability to lead commissioning efforts from design through project completion
18. Should have a passion for sustainability and knowledge of the commissioning process and experience with design, installation and operation of building systems (including but not limited to: HVAC, electrical, mechanical, and controls)
19. Must be willing to travel to site-based locations as reasonably based on HDR needs
20. Must have demonstrated ability to troubleshoot HVAC, TAB, and Controls and have excellent report writing skills
21. Must have a solid understanding of operational requirements, safety requirements, code inspections and maintenance considerations
22. Strong written, verbal communication and time management skills; exceptional interpersonal skills; ability to interact with people at all levels
23. Technical knowledge of MEP systems and HVAC expertise
24. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
25. Multitasking ability
26. Valid driver's license
