Ward 19 respiratory ward and respiratory support unit are looking for a qualified Nursing Associate, who is passionate about providing high‑quality patient‑focused care, flexible, and ready for new challenges.
On Ward 19 you will care for patients with respiratory illnesses and learn to manage patients with long‑term respiratory conditions such as COPD, interstitial lung disease, type 1 respiratory failure and type 2 respiratory failure.
Main duties of the job
* Physiological observations and investigations.
* Develop in‑depth knowledge of oxygen therapy, blood gas interpretation, wound management, chest drain, and fluid balance management and provide personal care to patients.
* Receive support from senior nursing colleagues as a Band 4, developing and enhancing your skills.
* Work with a cohort of patients and be responsible for their care.
Job responsibilities
* Contribute to the assessment, implementation and evaluation of care to meet patients’ needs in accordance with agreed local and national standards and evidence‑based guidelines under supervision.
* Support and provide patient education and health promotion.
* Support the delivery and coordination of care, through appropriate professional practice.
* Contribute to the management of risk and maintain patient safety, conforming to health, safety and security legislation, policies, procedures and guidelines.
* Communicate all relevant information to the multidisciplinary team internally and with external organisations as required.
* Maintain accurate and complete records of all care activities, timely and adhering to local and professional standards for documentation.
Person Specification
Qualifications & Education
* Registered Nursing Associate on the NMC register.
* Nursing Associate foundation degree qualification.
* GCSE Grade A‑C or Grade 4 or above in Maths & English or skills level 2 Maths & English or equivalent.
* Good information technology skills.
Knowledge & Experience
* Significant experience working in a healthcare environment as part of a team.
* Proven competency of assisting with a core range of physical measurements.
* Experience of using clinical systems, e.g. Quadramed.
