What’s great about the role?

As a Community Development Facilitator, you’ll manage and coach a caseload of young people, supporting them to progress along their employability pathway. You’ll work with individuals aged 16–30 to unlock their potential, build their confidence, and take meaningful steps into training, volunteering, or employment — especially in green and sustainable sectors.

Where does this role fit in?

You’ll join our Homes and Communities team, reporting to the Green Careers Strategy Lead & Partnerships Manager.

While you won’t line manage others, you’ll be a coach, mentor and motivated — leading a caseload of young people through tailored, one-to-one employability support. You’ll also build strong relationships with local residents, community groups, employers, and partners to turn ideas into outcomes.

Your work will cover Newport and Swansea, with a focus on:

* Managing and coaching a caseload of young people aged 16–30
* Helping individuals access green careers, training, volunteering, or work
* Delivering community-based projects and regeneration initiatives
* Building trust and local relationships
* Supporting inclusive, strengths-based engagement

What skills and experience do you need?

You’ll Need

* Experience helping people into work, training or volunteering
* Strong communication and relationship-building skills
* Experience offering one-to-one support or mentoring
* A positive, flexible approach
* Confidence working with partners and employers

It’s a Bonus If You Have

* Knowledge of green jobs or sustainability
* Experience with equality and inclusion work
* Skills using digital tools like Microsoft Office

What are the pay and benefits?

* £34,951 for a 37 hour, full time, fixed term position for 5 years in line with the Projects funding
* Flexible working policies – we offer hybrid working. For this role, your base will be either Newport or Swansea, depending on which is closest to where you live. You'll be regularly out and about in our communities, with occasional travel to our offices in Newport, Cardiff or Swansea as required.
* 26 days holiday entitlement plus Bank holidays, rising to 30 days with length of service
* Mileage is paid at 45p per mile
* An enhanced DBS is required for the role which we pay for
