Job Description
Unreal Engine Developer / Newcastle / Freelance
Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Unreal Engine developer to support an interactive activation at a high-profile live event in the London area. The experience will leverage markerless motion capture to animate a digital avatar in real time — with dynamic, abstract visual content overlaid on a large LED screen as shown in the attached concept frame.
Key Responsibilities:
- Integrate Unreal Engine with motion tracking hardware (e.g. Microsoft Kinect, Orbecc Femto Bolt, Logitech Brio).
- Build and optimize real-time skeletal tracking systems.
- Develop a responsive Unreal Engine pipeline to animate abstract avatars in real time.
- Ensure smooth processing locally or via the cloud, depending on performance needs.
Technical Notes:
- The experience uses a large-scale LED display to overlay live motion with visually engaging digital content.
- Visuals will include abstract, generative digital avatars reacting to full-body user motion.
- No personal data is recorded — all tracking is GDPR-compliant and privacy-respecting.
Requirements:
- Proficiency in Unreal Engine (Blueprints and/or C++) for real-time applications.
- Experience with motion tracking and integrating depth-sensing cameras.
- Confidence working with live display systems and syncing visual content to LED environments.
- Strong problem-solving ability in live event setups.
Preferences:
-Ability to work from our Newcastle office during development.
- Previous experience in experiential or immersive installations.
Timeline:
Immediate start with delivery for a scheduled event in the London area on July 13. Exact timeline and milestones to be confirmed.
