Clearance level: BPSS + SC
BAE Systems are looking for a skilled a Design Engineer to join their dynamic team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to be involved in a wide range of aircraft design activities, contributing to projects such as the Atmospheric Research Aircraft (ARA) Mid-Life Upgrade (MLU). You will provide specialist electrical design advice and ensure compliance with airworthiness, national, quality, and SHE requirements.
What You’ll Be Doing:
1. Deliver a range of electrical design engineering tasks across aircraft platforms
2. Create, review, and approve engineering drawings and documentation
3. Develop modifications and support third-party design organisations
4. Investigate and resolve technical issues related to aircraft systems
5. Ensure all designs meet airworthiness, safety, and regulatory standards
6. Act as a technical advisor within the team, supporting junior engineers
7. Collaborate with internal stakeholders, customers, and suppliers
8. Manage small to medium-sized projects with a focus on quality and delivery
9. Potential to become a Compliance Verification Engineer (CVE), subject to approval
What We’re Looking For:
10. Experience in aircraft or electrical design engineering (aerospace, defence, or related industries)
11. Strong understanding of design standards, processes, and regulatory compliance
12. Confident communicator, able to work with engineers, suppliers, and customers
13. Capable of solving complex problems and working independently or in teams
14. Leadership skills or experience guiding others is a plus, but not essential
