Property Litigation Solicitor – Colchester
Thompson Smith and Puxon (TSP), a Legal 500 recognised firm with a strong presence across Essex, is looking to recruit an experienced and commercially minded Property Litigation Solicitor to join our well-established Dispute Resolution team in Colchester.
This role offers a fantastic opportunity to specialise in property disputes while also having exposure to a wider range of civil and commercial litigation work.
The role
The successful candidate will take responsibility for a varied caseload of property-related disputes, acting for a diverse client base that includes landlords, some tenants and various diverse businesses including care home providers and agricultural land owners. Matters will include:
* Residential and commercial landlord and tenant disputes.
* Possession and forfeiture claims.
* Party Wall disputes.
* Property negligence related issues.
* Breach of covenant and dilapidations claims.
* Easements, boundaries, and rights of way issues.
* Adverse possession and nuisance claims.
* Lease Renewals and Enfranchisement matters;
* Land Registry rectification claims.
Alongside property litigation, there will be scope to work on a broader mix of civil and commercial litigation matters such as high-value debt recovery, contractual disputes, construction matters, regulatory work, and contentious probate. Experience in the above is not a pre-requisite but a a willingness to obtain broad experience within the department would be desirable. Prior experience in some or any of these areas would also be valued.

* A minimum of 2+ years PQE, with solid experience in property litigation.
* A genuine interest in dispute resolution and a desire to develop a well-rounded litigation practice;.
* Strong advocacy, negotiation, and client care skills.
* An organised and proactive approach to managing cases.
* The ability to work well within a team and a willingness to support the wider firm.
