Contract: Fixed-term, 18 months

Salary: £47,810 to £54,710 per year (Band 7, Agenda for Change)
Job Summary
Excellent data analysis, reporting and governance are a vital part of the HRA’s Digital Transformation and Research Systems Programme. As a Senior Data Analyst you will work closely with the Head of Data Engineering and the Agile development team to understand, interpret and predict patterns in the business, creating and enhancing data products and practices to enable data-driven insights and decision-making.
Responsibilities
* Apply advanced tools and techniques for data analysis and data visualisation, including business information tools.
* Identify, collect and synthesise data requirements from a range of systems.
* Utilise advanced SQL and visualisation knowledge to clean, abstract, aggregate and analyse data for analytical studies.
* Manipulate and link different data sets using advanced Microsoft data tooling suite.
* Summarise and present data and conclusions in the most appropriate format for users.
* Support the Head of Data Engineering to promote strong data governance using appropriate tooling and processes.
* Lead the discovery, understanding and documentation of business data and reporting requirements, collaborating with business analysts, product managers and data architects.
* Own and manage stakeholder relationships related to the data discipline.
* Analyse, understand and define data problems or opportunities.
* Identify areas for improvement and develop data-driven solutions.
* Ensure data quality, consistency and compliance with industry standards.
* Participate in the alignment of data models with business process requirements.
Person Specification – Essential
* Professional qualification at degree level in a data related discipline OR equivalent industry experience and portfolio demonstrating data warehousing, analysis and data management.
* Experience using Microsoft Data Tooling (SQL Server, Power BI, Data Factory, etc.).
* Extensive proven experience in data analysis, synthesis and modelling in a complex digital landscape.
* Significant experience of working with a Data Warehouse and leading specialist data analysis processes.
* Strong skills in data analytics and visualisation software such as Power BI.
* Experience presenting information to stakeholders.
* Specialist expertise in implementation and evaluation of data analysis processes.
* Understanding of data governance requirements and Microsoft BI Stack.
* Knowledge of the development life cycle.
* Demonstrable experience of planning multiple streams of data analysis work with competing deadlines.
* Commitment to inclusivity and valuing diversity.
