About the Family Stores:
Our nationwide network of over 130 Family Stores sells a range of quality donated goods, including clothing, furniture, linen, and homeware. We are unique retail environments where no two days are the same, due to varying customer interactions, donations, and stock processing activities.
About the Role:
This position combines Collection and Delivery Coordination, ensuring the pickup and drop-off of donated goods and providing retail customer service. You will need an eye for detail and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-volume retail setting. Tasks will shift between collection, delivery, and assisting within the stores as needed.
Collaboration and teamwork are essential, as you will work closely with colleagues to meet targets and achieve outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
* Providing excellent customer service to customers and donors
* Completing collections and deliveries according to a schedule
* Planning and scheduling routes to optimize processing operations
* Safely loading, unloading, and stacking goods
* Performing daily vehicle checks and maintaining the vehicle
* Ensuring compliance with policies, health and safety standards, and audit controls
* Contributing to a positive team environment and supporting store duties as needed
Person Specification:
* Resilient, positive, and people-oriented team player with the ability to relate to diverse backgrounds
* A full, clean New Zealand driver’s license (Class 1) with confidence in operating and maintaining a small truck (manual and automatic)
* Physically fit for regular heavy lifting
* Self-managing, able to prioritize tasks and work under pressure
* Quick thinker with logical and problem-solving skills
* Clear verbal and written communication skills
* Proficient with retail and communication technology
* Committed to working ethically, respectfully, honestly, and transparently, aligning with The Salvation Army’s values
* Able to work within procedures and exercise sound judgment when needed
* Eligible to work in New Zealand; police clearance required

Hours of Work: This is a permanent, full-time role at 40 hours per week. Note that some public holidays are worked.
Hourly Rate: $27.80 per hour.
