Atkinson Baker Associates are currently recruiting a Junior Estimator on behalf of a highly reputable and well-established Regional Building Contractor .
The Client
Our client is a highly successful SME contractor known for delivering exceptional bespoke residential builds, refurbishments, and high-quality commercial projects across Sussex. Because of their size and collaborative culture, they offer a working environment where you are more than just a cog in a machine—you will be an integral part of the team, gaining exposure to the complete project lifecycle from initial enquiry right through to final handover.
The Role
This is not your standard Junior Estimator role. The business is specifically looking for someone who wants to develop a rounded commercial skillset.
While your primary focus will be supporting the estimating function, you will also be actively mentored and trained in Quantity Surveying duties. This is a rare opportunity to bridge the gap between pre-construction and live project management.
* Assisting with the preparation of accurate estimates and tenders for varied building projects.
* Conducting take-offs, measuring materials, and obtaining sub-contractor/supplier quotes.
* Gradually taking on Quantity Surveying responsibilities, learning how to manage live project costs, valuations, and variations.
* Working closely with the senior management team, gaining invaluable exposure to the full construction lifecycle.
Requirements
* Essential: 3 to 4 years of experience working within the construction industry, ideally with a foundational grounding in estimating or pre-construction.
* Essential: A strong desire to learn and progress, specifically with an appetite to take on Quantity Surveying duties.
* Essential: Strong numerical, IT, and communication skills.
* Desirable: Previous experience working for an SME or Regional Main Contractor.
